DEPARTMENT OF RHEUMATOLOGY AND IMMUNOLOGY
(PEKING UNIVERSITY PEOPLE’S HOSPITAL)
General
The Department of Rheumatology and Immunology, Beijing University People's Hospital, is one of the first rheumatology centers established in China (1983). It was credited as Excellence in Clinical Immunology by the Department of Education of China . In the Department of Rheumatology, there are 4 Professors and 5 A/Professors, 5 Attending Rheumatologists, 3 residents, 15 nurses and 3 laboratory staffs and over 20 PhD, Master and Post-doctoral researchers.
Positions
Titles hold by the Professors in the department, include Chief-Editor of Chinese Journal of Rheumatology, Vice President of Chinese Rheumatology Association, Vice President of Clinical Immunology Association of China, International member of ACR, Board Members of the National Science Foundation, and Board Members of Sino-Food Drug Administration (SFDA). Several professors are respectively, the reviewer or Editor Board Members of “Scand J Immunol”, “Clin Rheumtol”, “lupus”, Chi Med J (English edition), Chi J Intern Med, Chi Med J, Chi J Rheumatol and Chi J Pract Intern Med. Scientific Exchanges
The Department of Rheumatology and Immunology has taken a number of visiting rheumatology fellows and researchers from all over the country for advanced clinical and lab training. The department has hosted many visiting Professors and rheumatologists from the USA , Australia , UK , Switzerland , Canada , Norway and Japan etc.
Clinics & novel diagnostic therapeutic achievements
There are more than 25 thousand out-patients per year with 36 in -patient beds in the department. We have developed over 20 new serological and genetic markers in diagnosis of rheumatic diseases. More than 10 novel immune-based therapies have been used for refractory rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus and Sjogren Syndrome, including T cell vaccination for SLE, immune ablation (such as immune-adsorption, double plasma filtration etc.) for RA, SLE and Sjogren syndrome. The other therapies include small pulse cyclophosphamide therapy for SLE, SS and PM, 99Tc-MDP and many bioagents (Enternercept, Remicade) for RA. Some of these diagnostic and therapeutic approaches are leading techniques in China as well as in the world.
THE GRANTS THAT WE HAVE GAINED:
